OUR WORK

JAMIE AND THE VAMPIRES

Jamie and the Vampires is a coming-of-age supernatural horror adapted from the 1991 short story by bestselling author Brian Jacques. Set over the course of Halloween night, this adaptation reimagines the narrative through a contemporary lens, exploring themes surrounding female societal pressures while retaining the story’s playful, tongue-in-cheek edge. The film centres on a teenage girl determined to do whatever it takes to fit in, blending dark humour with an honest look at the complexities of adolescence.

For our graduate film, we took Jacques’ original premise as a foundation and developed it extensively to create a modern, socially relevant interpretation. We worked closely with the Estate from early development to ensure our creative direction aligned with their expectations while giving the story a fresh, updated identity. During production, we assembled and led a 30-person crew and crowdfunded over £10,000 to bring the project to life.

Patrick served as Producer, overseeing the full production pipeline, while Annie worked as both Production Designer and Producer, shaping the film’s visual language and contributing to its overall execution.

Throughout the project we built a strong, positive relationship with the Estate, who responded enthusiastically to our ideas. We look forward to continuing that relationship as the film progresses into our festival release.

"The Redwall Estate would like to congratulate both Annie & Patrick for their sterling work in all aspects of developing their short film ‘Jamie and the Vampires’, adapted from the Brian Jacques short story. We’ve followed the production with great interest and have been delighted to see the outcomes. The overall professionalism evident in the script adaptation, performances, film work and editing is a testament to the skill and hard work that all of the company have put in. Managing such an endeavour is by no means an easy task, but both Patrick and Annie have in our estimation come through with flying colours. We wish both and the company well for the future presentations of their exceptional short film ‘Jamie and the Vampires’."
